St. John Rescue Mission Statement

St John Rescue, Inc. is an all volunteer organization dedicated to saving lives and building a better community, education, and community spirit.

Our History on St. John

In 1995, in the aftermath of Hurricane Marilyn, a group of concerned St Johnians met to find ways to improve emergency response on the island. Meeting regularly under a large tree where the V.I. National Park Visitors' Center now stands, the group was a cross section of the island - private citizens, government workers, a V.I. National Park employee, and a couple of snowbirds. St John Rescue, Inc. officially launched on November 30, 1996 when it was granted status as a 501(C)3 corporation by the Virgin Islands government. In 1999, our first vehicle and the Jaws of Life equipment were purchased through private donations. We currently have forty plus volunteer members. These dedicated members donate valuable experience, expertise, and time to the organization. St John Rescue responds to over one-hundred and fifty calls per calendar year.
